Women the world over have had their pregnancy and birth experiences drastically altered as a result of the global pandemic. In the UK, the NHS had to quickly put measures in place to ensure that it could safely continue to treat those in most need. This has meant a scaling back of routine services and a hold on all non-emergency treatment. Yet babies have continued to be born. These changes, although necessary, have had a sizeable impact on the experience of pregnancy and birth. Face-to-face appointments with midwives have been reduced as much as possible and exchanged for telephone consultations in order to keep the physical contact to a minimum. Home births have been reduced or removed as an option across many NHS trusts, with multiple midwife-led birthing centres also closed. This is despite the RCOM and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists both advocating for the continuation of a midwife-led approach wherever possible as it been deemed the most safe and effective form of care.

I make a scan for my prostate and the staff explained to me everything that I want to know. Good availability. Great for reassurance. Would use again. Apparently it is standard practice in Notts to cancel your statutory 12th week scan if you have done a private one after your 7th week. I just can’t find any “official” piece information to check that. I have written my local private scan place to ask them, but they haven’t responded yet. A lady from York told me that private places over there do have to communicate with NHS and that’s how they find out.
I guess the only way I can be really sure is to ask the private clinic I’m planning to go to. But as I said they didn’t answer my email enquiry yet, and their line is always busy. Thanks again, i appreciate. Excuse me crashing.

It uses high-frequency sound waves to create pictures of the inside of the body. It can show internal organs as well as blood flow, and as a result, ultrasound is used to look for any changes in organs and tissue. Ultrasound is used to look at the breast to identify any suspicious lumps. It enables radiologists to have a clearer picture of the soft tissue so they can work out what is going on in the breast more easily and distinguish potential breast tumours from harmless breast lumps, such as fat lobules or benign non-cancerous breast cysts.
It can help detect and classify problems that are not easy to identify using mammography alone, which is often the case in younger women who have dense breast tissue. To perform this, the consultant will place a gel on the relevant part of your skin and gently move a handheld scanner across that area to produce an image on a computer screen. You may be required to remove or loosen clothing to complete the scan.
